The Foundation’s primary mission is to promote excellence in clinical care, in education and in research in the field of Thoracic Surgery as well as to recruit and retain academic Thoracic Surgeons who are leaders in their field.

Scientific mission

Thoracic surgery research can be divided into three separate categories: thoracic oncology, oesophageal diseases and lung transplantation

With the creation of endowed university chairs, the Foundation can offer researchers the necessary resources required to innovate and make scientific inroads and breakthroughs

The goal is the development of newer, more precise, more effective and less invasive surgical treatments with the help of new technologies

Québec registry and populational study on screening and follow-up for precursory diseases for oesophageal cancer such as Barrett’s esophagus

Research program on new minimally invasive techniques bringing together electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy with 3D imaging in the treatment of lung cancer

Molecular biology research program on DNA profiling and tumour markers via a thoracic oncology tissue bank

Institut de Médecine Spécialisée de Montréal – with all proceeds going to the Foundation
Specialized and personalized medical clinic with activities in three main areas:
- prevention of heart, lung and metabolic diseases
- screening of the most common types of cancer
- a wellness center for patients
