Black & White Dance Party 2019

The Montreal Thoracic Surgery Research Foundation raised $ 330,000 at its 14th Annual Black & White Dance Party held at the Madison Reception Center in St-Leonard on Saturday, April 13th. The sold-out event was held under the Honorary Presidency of Mr. Jean-Claude Morrissette, Chairman of the Fransyl Group. Nearly 800 people attended the benefit evening, including Madam Nadine Renaud-Tinker, President, Quebec Division, RBC Royal Bank, partner of the event. Mrs. Renaud-Tinker was Honorary President of the 2018 Annual Black & White Gala.

Funds raised support a variety of university chairs and research projects to support medical breakthroughs in thoracic oncology, oesophageal diseases and lung transplantation.

“Nearly 12 million Canadians suffer from lung disease, which means one of every three persons. Lung disease is the second leading cause of death in Canada, says Dr. Pasquale Ferraro, Chairman of the Board of Directors [and Chief, Division of Thoracic Surgery at the CHUM]. The Montreal Thoracic Surgery Research Foundation provides invaluable assistance to thousands of people with lung and esophageal diseases by providing access to high quality care. ”

The Foundation relies on the generosity of many loyal partners and sponsors such as the Morrissette Family and the Fransyl Group, the Alfonzo Minicozzi Family, the Marcel and Rolande Gosselin Foundation, the Mirella and Lino Saputo Foundation, Group Monaco, Telus, and RBC Royal Bank. Working with Dr. Pasquale Ferraro at the Foundation is a committed team of volunteers and dedicated Board Members such as Salvatore Mariani, Frank Trombino, Dr. André Duranceau, Jacques Ferraro, Eduardo Minicozzi, Joe Marsilii, Dr. Yves Berthiaume and Jessica Émilie Gauthier, Coordinator of Financing and Partnerships.

Our cause is important to us and we are grateful that you are there with us! Thank you for helping us make a difference for thousands of Quebec patients requiring specialized thoracic surgerical care.

Pasquale Ferraro, MD
President of the Board
